My Seventeenth Month Blogging – Traffic is Back Up!

Welcome to an overview of my seventeenth month blogging!
For those who have never been to one of these update posts, this is basically where we spill everything that Financial Pupil has been up to the past month. We reveal all the stats and new posts published and any new endeavors that we’ve taken on. We do this for two main reasons:
- When Financial Pupil was first created, there weren’t too many sites that provided transparent statistics and data. We’re hoping that these update posts can serve as a consistent place where you can come by for honest updates.
- Revealing stats every month helps to keep us accountable! It’s motivating knowing that we’ll need to share all of our stats with the public at the end of each month.
This month was busy and filled with lots of short-term traffic! We are really trying to invest more into the blog to try and grow some long-term traffic, but (as many bloggers reading this already know) building long-term traffic is a tedious process. Still, we’ve done the best we can for the past month!
Recap of My Seventeenth Month Blogging
If there is one word that can be used to describe April 2022, it would be “consistency.”
In prior months, one of my strategies was to do a bunch of work ahead of time (all at once) and schedule it out for future weeks. While this sounds great on paper, we realized that it was actually extremely unsustainable. The idea of not needing to do work for long periods of time sounds good, but the initial work that needs to be put in can be a tall task.
This month, we have transitioned to a much more consistent work schedule. Instead of trying to schedule ahead for the whole month in just a few days, we have been putting in a small effort every day. Surprisingly, this has led to much better results (and our traffic numbers have also improved).
For us, it is easier to put in 20 minutes every day, than to spend 2 full days in a row doing non-stop work, and then not working for full weeks at a time.
Another thing we are learning to grapple with is balancing two competing forces:
- The need to say no to certain things and really focus and get good at a few things.
- Trying out new ideas and making the most of the resources available to you.
This is something that we are still learning to do and aren’t quite proficient at yet. There are so many things that can be done with a website (and with a career/life) and it’s important to figure out what to say yes to and what to say no to.
New Blogs Published in April 2022

Stats for Financial Pupil
Here is the section that you’ve all been waiting for: our stats for the past month! If you visited our previous month’s recap, you’ll know that we made a big effort to increase short-term traffic while also building long-term organic traffic. Our efforts seemingly paid off as this month we had a lot more traffic than we did the past month!
Here are Financial Pupil’s metrics from April 1, 2022 to April 30, 2022:
- Visitors: 64,806
- Pageviews: 89,745
Our top sources of traffic were:
- Direct traffic
- Search engine traffic
- Referral traffic
This has actually been our highest pageview month ever! There were some single-day spikes in traffic throughout the month that helped, but it’s still really motivating to see that we’re creeping closer and closer to 100k pageviews a month!
When we first started, we could have never imagined that in a year and a half (ish), we’d be at almost 90k pageviews!
Next month, we’ll focus on building lots of backlinks and hopefully driving up organic traffic!
Thank You!
At the end of the day, the most important person here is… you! You are what makes Financial Pupil possible and none of this would exist without your support.
