My Sixteenth Month Blogging – New Site Design Plans

Welcome to a review of my sixteenth month blogging!
If this is the first time you’re visiting one of these posts, it’s basically where I update readers on what I’ve been up to this past month and spill all the stats of Financial Pupil. I do this for two main reasons:
- Because when I first started blogging (sixteen months ago) I was very curious about how other blogs were doing, but I couldn’t find any transparent reports/updates regarding blog stats and growth. This is my way of “paying it forward” and hopefully Financial Pupil can be a place where new bloggers feel comfortable to periodically check in for honest updates and states.
- Revealing my stats every month also keeps me highly accountable. Knowing that I’ll need to show what I’ve been up to at the end of every month motivates me to keep on pushing forward and try to beat out my stats from the last month.
This month was a busy one (on the personal front) and I didn’t make nearly enough time for growing my blog. Still, it’s good to see that the work I put in before has carried forward and kept the stats for this month relatively stable.
Read on for the updates!
Recap of My Sixteenth Month Blogging
When I first came to college, one of my mentors told me, “the beginning of your fall semester will be extremely hectic, and then the latter half of your fall semester will be relatively calm. In the spring, it’s the opposite.”
I didn’t believe him at the time, but this March has taught me that indeed the second half of Spring semester is much tougher than the first half. School is starting to get serious and I’m also starting to travel over the weekends for golf tournaments.
Between all of this, I didn’t have too much time to devote to the blog, but did stick to a few key fundamentals that helped me through this month:
- Researching keywords that are both interesting and high volume, then writing quality blog posts for these keywords.
- Doing outreach to experienced bloggers and soaking up everything they have to offer.
Something exciting for Financial Pupil (that we’re just starting to implement at the end of the month) is we’re going through a complete homepage/site redesign! As we continue to grow, we need to present Financial Pupil in as professional of a light as possible. Stay tuned for a new site look soon!
New Blogs Published in March 2022
This month was a bit of slow one and we didn’t publish in the entire week of spring break. Other than that, though, we stuck with our publishing schedule of twice a week.

Stats for Financial Pupil
The section that you’ve all been waiting for: the stats for this month! As previously mentioned, though the efforts I put into Financial Pupil were lacking a bit this month, we still managed to see some growth due to all the previous efforts we made. For April, I’m planning to make a push and see if we can get our short-term traffic to grow while also building good long-term content.
Here are Financial Pupil’s metrics from March 1, 2022 to March 31, 2022:
- Visitors: 48,495
- Pageviews: 63,272
Our top sources of traffic for the month are:
- Direct traffic
- Search engines
- Referral traffic
It’s still crazy to me how much we’ve grown in the last six months. Financial Pupil was at less than 5k pageviews just half a year ago and now we’ve consistently gotten over 50k pageviews per month for the past three months!
Still, I feel like there’s so much to learn and that I’ve barely scraped the tip of the iceberg in the blogging world.
Thank You!
Thank you so much for dropping by for this update post and for supporting Financial Pupil. Your visits are what keep this site alive and growing and none of this could be possible without you!

Cheers to another great month of productivity, smart decisions, and growth!

Jeff is a Harvard 2025 student passionate about making smart financial decisions both in school and in the workplace so that he can spend more time doing what he loves (like playing golf, spending time with family, and travelling). He has experience working in the financial industry and enjoys sharing all things personal finance, academic, and golf-related. Outside of blogging, he loves to cook, read, and golf in his spare time.
I’m still in awe of your sudden growth, but no one deserves it more than you. Congrats on your hard work paying off!
